Dr. Steve Wilkinson’s catalogue currently includes original works Super Famiconcerto for Tuba and 16-Bit Electronic Accompaniment and Sweet Sea Suite for tuba quartet, among other works for brass and brass ensembles with plenty more on the way!

Steve is leader of the Legato Pesante Quartet in Hartford, CT, as well as a core member of Amity Street Brass Quintet in Westborough, MA. He has concertized with Sonic Brass and Bala Brass Quintets, as well as Symphoria and the New England Symphony Orchestra (now the Worcester Symphony Orchestra). Steve also regularly performs with Downtown Boston Brass, a strolling New Orleans-style street band employed by Boston’s Business Improvement District.

A licensed K-12 educator in Massachusetts, Dr. Wilkinson is a passionate teacher. He has held engagements during his tenure in Ithaca including Visiting Lecturer of Tuba and Euphonium at Cornell University and graduate assistant at Ithaca College where he was charged with teaching tuba and euphonium methods and non-major lessons.

Steve currently teaches low brass for Natick Public Schools, Tantasqua Regional School District, and Leominster High School where he also serves as Brass Caption Head of the Marching Blue Devils. He can also be seen serving as Tuba Instructor at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT.

Based in Central Connecticut, Dr. Wilkinson earned his doctorate at The Hartt School under the tutelage of Scott Mendoker and James Jackson. In addition, he has studied composition with Robert Carl and Daron Hagen. He earned his Master of Music Performance at Ithaca College under Justin Benavidez and Craig Sutherland, and he holds a dual degree in Music Performance and Music Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he worked with John Bottomley.
